Blocked drainage channels flood the same houses every rainy season. Waste piles up on the same corners. The young people who grow up in these neighbourhoods already know exactly where the problems are — what they have rarely been given is the tools, the organisation and the permission to fix them.
Our volunteers plant and tend trees, clear plastic and rubbish out of drainage channels, and run clean-up days street by street. The work is deliberately visible and deliberately local: teams work in the areas they live in, alongside neighbours who can see the difference the same afternoon.
Every activity doubles as a lesson — on waste, on water, on why a blocked channel floods a home three streets away, and on what a community can change once it decides to. The trees are the part that lasts; the habit is the part that matters.
